Silicones – miracle or illusion?

Have you ever applied a face cream and immediately felt your skin become silky smooth?

That feeling often comes from silicones.

Silicones are used in many skincare products and makeup because they provide an immediate soft feel, fill in imperfections, and make the skin feel smooth.

That's why primers almost always contain silicones.

But here comes the important question.

Has the skin truly improved?

Or does it just feel better for the moment?

Silicones do not moisturize the skin in the same way that plant oils, ceramides, or humectants do.

Instead, they form a thin film that creates a smooth and pleasant surface.

For many, this works excellently.

However, if the goal is to strengthen the skin barrier and nourish the skin, the product also needs to contain active ingredients that actually work with the skin – not just on top of it.

At YAG, we develop skincare with a focus on long-term results.

We want the skin to feel better even after the product has been washed off.

Therefore, we prioritize ingredients with documented effects over ingredients that primarily change the feel upon application.

For us, skincare is about more than a quick "wow" feeling.

It's about healthier skin – today, tomorrow, and in ten years.
